Our Roof Structure – which makes us different from many other garden room companies
Our roofs are built from timber the same as if you were building a flat roofed house extension. Many of our competitors use a composite roof panel which is a low cost system giving cheaper buildings but not the durability, longevity or interior finish of a wooden roof.
We incorporate at least 100mm insulation and a ventilation gap to prevent the build-up of condensation and further improves insulation.
The roof slopes on angled wooden ‘furring strips’ to a gutter at one end, and the whole structure is covered by an EPDM synthetic rubber sheet which has a manufacturer’s warranty of 20 years.
Because we use angled furring strips, the ceiling inside is level from front to back. Composite roof panels give a ceiling that slopes at the same pitch as the roof giving reducing head room as you move to the back of the building.
Our ceilings are dry lined and skim plastered and allow the use of recessed downlights.
Garden Studio’s We’ve Built Previously
Clad in Iroko, a hardwood from Africa, this is a large 7.8 X 4.8M garden room complete with shower and WC. Designed to fit into the available space and with flexibility for use as an office or visitor accommodation, it has become a valuable addition to our client’s property.
Taller than usual, this garden room is 3m high to give a ceiling height of 2.65m and with corner glazing, lots of natural light. It looks beyond the garden to panoramic views of rolling downland in the distance. We worked with our client to produce a design that gave them the best outlook from the one vantage point they had available.
This is another one of our brick built garden rooms, this time using reclaimed bricks. Built in London it makes the most of a small back yard, giving our clients another great living area a short hop from their back door.
Black buildings seem to be becoming more popular and this one looks particularly good at the bottom of a long garden in West London. The exterior is clad with painted shiplap timber, and the matching powder coated aluminium doors and windows combine well. This building is in fact was one of our refurbishments, but if it is the style of your choice we can build from new to the same design.
This open fronted ‘room’ is unusual, but is another good example of how we design and build bespoke buildings to meet our clients requirements. The photo shows it unfinished, but when the floor is paved it will look fantastic as part of a small pool and garden complex. Our instruction was to build a suitable outdoor space to provide a sheltered area from which our client could entertain and relax while looking over the pool and garden to the Berkshire Downs in the distance. This met his requirements perfectly.
